When thinking about making a move in Korea, there are several types of relocation services available.
Call van service
If you’re single and own a few possessions, a call van service may be the economically wise method of relocation. For those who are staying in Korea on a short-term basis, use this affordable option to savemoney.
Standard relocation service (5ton truck,approx. 350,000 won)
Standard is the most affordable way to move and best suited for singles without much to pack. The moving company will provide a truck and a mover/driver. You must pack and unpack all your belongings and although not the most convenient method of choice, it’s the most economical option available..
Complete relocation service (5ton truck, approx. 450,000~500,000 won)
The moving company provides 2~3 movers. The movers pack, transport and unpack all your belongings. This method is quite convenient considering you only have to organize your belongings and the movers will take care of everything else. Cleaning and extra services to make the entire moving process easier is also available at an extra cost.
※Remember to take note of “No spirits day.”
What is “No spirits day?” It is more of a longstanding Korean myth than anything else, but certain days of the lunar calendar are considered to be free of evil spirits. This may not mean much to foreigners but some movers actually charge more for their services on these days. Since more people may reserve these dates for their move, you will probably need to pay additional costs in order to move on these days. Check with your service provider for the specific dates
Storage services are often provided by complete relocation service movers. The service provider will store your belongings in a storage space until your designated move-in date. Storage service will set you back 300,000~700,000 won depending on the amount and duration of your storage needs.
